WMO report on global trends – decade of extremes

The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has analysed global climate data for 2001 to 2010, describing it as a decade of extremes. It was the warmest decade since the start of the modern instrumental record, and more national temperature records were broken than ever before. The rate of sea level rise also accelerated compared to 20th century trends. It brings together data on several climate extremes, including hurricanes, sea ice extent, drought, rainfall and temperature.
