Visualisation for coastal flood management

An accessible and elegant new online tool – Surgewatch – allows anyone to find out about the history of coastal flooding around the UK and to download the underlying data. Created by a team from the University of Southampton, the National Oceanography Centre and the British Oceanographic Data Centre, Surgewatch aims to support a better understanding of coastal flooding, and is intended for use by researchers, engineers and planners. It uses sea level records from the National Tide Gauge Network, and the researchers would welcome further contributions in the form of photos, videos and narratives.
