Environment Agency
Climate change adaptation on the Wear (pdf, 2.9 MB) was commissioned by the Environment Agency to identify the climate change risks faced by the people and infrastructure of the River Wear catchment, and to develop an adaptation strategy to address these threats. London Climate Change Partnership
The Adapting to climate change: a checklist for development (pdf, 512 KB) argues that developments should be designed to be adapting to the changing climate throughout their lifetime, and provides guidance on how to address issues such as water re-use and efficiency, reducing flood risk, avoiding overheating and minimising damage from subsidence and heave.
New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP)
New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) is responsible for managing New York City’s water supply sewer and waste water treatment systems. The development of their climate change adaptation strategy is described in: Rosenzweig, C. et al 2007. Managing climate change risks in New York City’s water system: assessment and adaptation planning. Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change 12: 1391-1409. This is a valuable read, particularly for those concerned with water management.
Town & Country Planning Association
Climate change adaptation by design (2007, pdf, 5.1 MB) shows how adaptation can be integrated into the planning, design and development of new and existing communities. It will be a valuable resource for planners, urban designers, developers, and those engaged more generally in creating sustainable communities.
