How to do an LCLIP
Before you start the LCLIP process, there is a list of things to consider:
1. The primary purpose for undertaking an LCLIP.
Is it to:
- take a first step into adaptation activity?
- develop a story to tell, to colleagues / service managers / members, partners, about the consequences of weather events?
- prepare the ground as part of a longer term adaptation programme?
- consolidate existing but disparate evidence available?
- create a focus for partnership work, with neighbouring authorities / LSP?
This decision will have a bearing on how you approach the LCLIP, in terms of defining the scope, objectives and outcomes.
2. Where you would like the LCLIP to take you
What the hard and soft outputs should be.
3. Factors that will determine the scope of the LCLIP.
- Geographical priority areas (e.g. coastal regions, areas of social deprivation).
- Sector priority areas (e.g. vulnerable adults, school-age children).
- The data currently available.
4. Whether to employ an external person / organisation
Or whether to allocate internal staff time
