Land-sparing or land-sharing?

Recent research has concluded that providing good-quality green spaces in cities is beneficial  for a host of reasons, including recreation, well-being and providing valuable cooling amidst the urban heat island. The research team concluded that land-sparing – providing large areas of green space next to intensive development – was the most effective, although some degree of land-sharing – where small green spaces are provided at intervals within the urban landscape – also had benefits.
