BACLIAT: A tool for business

The UKCIP Business Areas Climate Impacts Assessment Tool (BACLIAT) is a good starting point for exploring the implications of climate change for your particular business or sector. It comprises a simple checklist for assessing the potential impacts of climate change under generic business areas.
BACLIAT can be used at the level of a single organisation or an entire business sector. It encourages the consideration of both threats and opportunities and is most effective when used as part of a group brainstorming exercise.
The outcome of a BACLIAT exercise is a long list of potential threats and opportunities from climate change under the six generic headings. These pages present the BACLIAT checklist with some examples of impacts on business in general, and sector case studies. Advice on how to run a BACLIAT workshop is also provided.
The BACLIAT tool was developed in partnership with representatives from a range of trade associations and professional bodies.
