What does UKCP09 mean for the Risk Framework?

The guidance provides a step-by-step decision-making framework to help you judge the significance of your climate change risk compared to the other risks you face, so you can work out what adaptation measures are most appropriate.

It will help you answer the questions:

  • What climate change risks could affect my decision?

  • What adaptation measures are required, and when should they be implemented?

Which UKCIP decision-support tool should you use?

The Adaptation Wizard and Nottingham Declaration Action Pack are based on the same underlying principles as the Risk, Uncertainty and Decision-Making Framework.

You should use the Adaptation Wizard if you are new to climate change and don’t have a good understanding of your climate risks.

You should use the Nottingham Declaration Action Pack if you are a local authority as this tool has been designed especially for you.

You should use this Risk, Uncertainty and Decision-Making Framework if you have some knowledge of your climate risks but want to fully understand these and get a good understanding of your adaptation options.
