Adaptation actions

The Adaptation Actions database demonstrates how organisations in the UK are adapting to climate change.

Some change in our climate is going to be unavoidable and we will all need to adapt to minimise our risks. Climate change will also provide opportunities and we should try to exploit these. Many organisations are looking for examples of actions they can take to minimise risks or exploit opportunities. This database can help: it shows what others are doing to adapt and to help organisations identify what actions they might take to reduce their risks.

The database is searchable by region, sector or adaptation activity; for definitions click on the Definitions button (). Activities have been divided into building adaptive capacity (BAC) and delivering adaptation action (DAA), then further subdivided into the various types of adaptation.

Adaptation Actions should be used with other UKCIP tools, particularly the Risk, Uncertainty and Decision-Making Framework (at stage 4) and the Adaptation Wizard, to help identify adaptation options.

These examples have been contributed by UKCIP and its stakeholders, and by Defra through the Adaptation Policy Framework (APF) Phase 1 consultation. Click here to add your case study to add your own UK climate adaptation activity.
