The UK Climate Projections (UKCP09) were created to be used by people working in all sorts of organisations in the UK.
This checklist might be useful in identifying whether or not an organisation could benefit from using UKCP09.
If the answer is 'yes' to any of these, then it would be worth taking a look at what UKCP09 offers.
Is the organisation:
- affected by changes to averages (like temperature or precipitation (rain, snow, hail)) or extremes of weather or climate;
- taking decisions or making investments with long-lifetimes, such as construction;
- making significant investments or has high value at stake, such as protecting life or natural environment;
- providing or supporting critical national infrastructure, like power supply; or
- taking decisions with significant impacts, perhaps creating a technical standard, that cannot be changed for more than a decade?
Local councils, health trusts or businesses in the building sector are examples of organisations that should be starting to consider how they might adapt to a changing climate.
If you think that you will find UKCP09 useful, you should visit our technical site, where you will find more information about how to use UKCP09, and sources of further help.
All information available through UKCP09 is provided free of charge.
