Guidance on the identification and selection of adaptation options that can be used to respond to climate risks
This guidance note explores the nature and characteristics of adaptation in the context of climate risk and provides further background information and examples of adaptation strategies and options. In doing so it provides guidance related to the identification, selection and role of stakeholders, dealing with uncertainty and identifying and selecting adaptation options.

It is aimed at supporting decision and policy makers who are faced with identifying and appraising the effectiveness of adaptation measures that address identified climate risks. It should be used as a companion piece to other UKCIP tools such as the Adaptation Wizard; risk, uncertainty and decision-making framework; Business Areas Climate Impacts Assessment Tool (BACLIAT); Adaptation Actions database and the guidelines on costing the impacts of climate change.
