Climate change impacts in the South West

In 2003, a scoping study Warming to the Idea was produced for the South West, supported by a group of key stakeholders in the South West Region. It sets out to describe the climate change scenarios projected for the coming century in the south west region, to identify the likely impacts of such change, and to suggest appropriate action to respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by these impacts.

This study was produced and disseminated through the South West Climate Change Impacts Partnership. The partnership is currently working through its Phase 2 Business Plan (2005-2008), with the aims of:

  • Raising awareness of climate change impacts in priority sectors.

  • Developing examples of practical adaptation responses in South West.

  • Incorporating & implementing adaptation into regional strategies/plans and monitor.

  • Securing appropriate resources to support growing regional activity.
