Wizard introduction
How has the Wizard changed?
|
 |
How does the new Wizard (version 2.0) differ from version 1.0?
Revision of the Wizard 1.0 has been informed by feedback from our users and by developments in the field of climate change adaptation.
Users called for greater clarity over what the Wizard can and can't do, and how it should be applied. We have addressed this by:
- adding a Getting Started stage,
- providing more guidance on what to do in each step to answer the questions, and
- distinguishing between general information and specific tasks that need completion.
Version 2.0 of the Wizard has an additional step called: “Am I vulnerable to climate?” We have found that people find it easier to think about how they will be affected by future climate change if they start by looking at how they are currently affected by climatic variability and extreme weather events. This new step makes the need to adapt more real, by making a connection between vulnerability to current weather and potential vulnerability to future climate.
We recognise that not all users will need to conduct a quantitative analysis before being able to develop and implement climate adaptations:
- some users will need to find out more about key climate risks,
- some will be able to identify and implement adaptations straight away, and
- some may implement obvious adaptations while at the same time finding out more about key climate risks.
These activities are now incorporated into one step, with advice provided to help users decide which avenue they should follow.
The notepad function has been developed to enable users to capture all their answers in one place so that the material they generate in working through the Wizard can be more readily transformed into a climate adaptation strategy.
Finally, we hope that we have improved the functionality and navigability of the site.
