Impacts of climate change on marine fish and fisheries

A recent study looking at the impacts of climate change on marine fish and shellfish has found that national and international marine research organisations will play a key role in coordinating research on these complex chains of impacts, as well as clarifying our understanding of what the future may bring for fisheries and the communities dependent upon them.

The review covers several issues: possible impacts on ecosystem productivity and habitat quality/quantity; the impacts of these on the species composition, distribution, interaction, and interaction of species; the impacts this will all have on fisheries and the communities that rely on them; the implications of this for food security and other changes; and uncertainty and modelling skill assessment.
