Climate Local survey of adaptation in local authorities

Climate Local, which is now a self-supporting network, published the results of their survey of local authority officers with adaptation responsibilities. While the disappointing response rate (20%) could be indicative of financial constraints, the results show that most of the respondents are planning adaptation and resilience measures. Interestingly, one respondent remarked “there is rarely a coherent ‘invest to save’ business case for climate change”. Is lack of funds nudging authorities into disaster risk management rather than adapting for the future?
