Swiss Re provided financial sponsorship for an Oxfam America project in the Horn of Africa. The project began in 2008, with an aim of designing an affordable drought insurance package for farmers in Ethiopia. This involved risk reduction, (minimising vulnerability), risk transfer through drought insurance, prudent risk taking, diversifying, using technology and exploring value-added activities.
