Making progress report

Making progress reviews the work of UKCIP since 2005, looking at its successes and offering insights to what has been learned. It also marks the end of a 14-year relationship with Defra as UKCIP’s major funding partner.

UKCIP was the first organisation of its kind in the world, with its approaches, methods, projects and ground-breaking work in stakeholder-led engagement being widely referenced. UKCIP is recognised as having played a major role in increasing awareness of the need to adapt and in driving forward action on the ground.

Making progress describes and makes sense of transitions in the UK’s adaptation landscape and is a valuable guide for anyone new to adaptation. It describes the successes, reflects on where greater progress could have been made and indicates the most critical lessons from those experiences. With this in mind, it also proposes approaches and considerations for future action.

The report was created with input from the whole staff team at UKCIP, but could not have been written without the contributions, over the years, from former UKCIP staff and from colleagues in other organisations who have been making adaptation to climate change a reality in the UK.
