About us

UKCIP supports adaptation to the unavoidable impacts of a changing climate.

We work at the boundary between scientific research, policy making and adaptation practice, bringing together the organisations and people responsible for addressing the challenges climate change will bring.

UKCIP coordinates and influences research into adapting to climate change, and shares the outputs in ways that are useful to stakeholders. We encourage organisations to use our tools and information to help them consider their climate risks, and to plan to adapt.

UKCIP was established in 1997 by the UK government, when it was then known as the UK Climate Impacts Programme. Since it began, UKCIP has been based at the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford.
